Water Pump Service

Water Pump Replacement

Prevent engine overheating and costly damage with a professional cooling system service.

Service Overview

When you are travelling on the road, your engine reaches very high temperatures. Water pumps work by pumping coolant through the engine from the radiator, which is then recycled back through the cooling system.

A water pump gasket works as a seal between the engine and the water pump to prevent leaking. If your engine begins to leak coolant, it is vital that you get it replaced promptly to prevent terminal engine damage due to overheating.

Water pumps typically last between 60,000 to 90,000 miles. Because they are often driven by the timing belt, it is industry best practice to replace both components at the same time.

Signs of Failure

A common sign of a failing water pump is a pool of coolant (often colored orange, green, or pink) under the front-center of your vehicle.
If your temperature gauge is rising into the "red" zone or the engine temperature warning light illuminates, stop driving immediately to avoid warping the head gasket.
Faulty bearings inside the water pump pulley can create a grinding sound. This is usually due to a lack of lubrication or a mechanical failure within the pump itself.
